Purpose
Evaluate outcomes of a specific labral base repair suture technique for labral tears and pincer FAI.
Methods
Patients followed for an average of 2.4 years; PROs, pain (VAS), and satisfaction assessed. Excluded arthritis grade ≥2 and other suture techniques.
Key Findings
- Significant improvement in all PROs and pain (VAS decreased from 6.5 to 2.3).
- 85.2% had good or excellent outcomes.
- No major complications.
- 5.6% needed revision; 3.7% progressed to hip replacement.
Conclusion
Labral base repair yields favorable results with improved function, pain relief, and patient satisfaction.
What This Means for Patients
This technique offers a reliable surgical option for specific labral tears with good pain control and outcomes.
What Does This Mean for Providers?
- Consider labral base repair as an effective technique for labral tears associated with pincer impingement.
- Patient selection is key; avoid in advanced arthritis or other contraindications.
- Monitor for revision risk and counsel accordingly.
