Alumni fellows from the American Hip Institute Research Foundation Hip Preservation Fellowship Program returned to AHI for a discussion on recent innovations and complex cases. It was great to see everyone again, and the team looks forward to continued collaboration throughout the weekend at AANA’s Hip Arthroscopy: Enhancing Clinical Expertise and Proficiency Course.
A warm farewell to Dr. Federica Mariotti, an orthopedic surgeon from Bologna, Italy 🇮🇹, who recently completed a month-long observership at the American Hip Institute Research Foundation. The institute proudly welcomes surgeons worldwide to learn the latest hip surgery techniques. Best wishes to Dr. Mariotti as she returns to Italy to help many more patients with her new skills!
Fifty years ago, Dr. Frank Jobe, mentor to Dr. Benjamin Domb, invented the now-famous procedure to repair a torn ligament in pitcher Tommy John—known today as the “Tommy John procedure.” Dr. Domb had the honor of training with both Dr. Jobe and his successor, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic, and meeting Tommy John himself. This week, Dr. Domb presented on “Hip Instability in Female Athletes” at the annual Kerlan-Jobe Meeting, with Dr. ElAttrache presiding as Guest Professor.
Congratulations were also extended to the graduating fellows of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic.
Today, Dr. Andrew Carbone and Dr. Paulo Padilla completed their fellowship in hip preservation at the American Hip Institute under the guidance of Dr. Benjamin Domb. It was a pleasure having them as part of the team, and we wish them continued success as they advance in their careers—saving lives, one hip at a time. Congratulations to both!
Dr. David Maldonado has graduated from the AHIRF Fellowship in Hip Surgery, completing advanced training in hip preservation and replacement. He now enters the next phase of his career with expertise and dedication to excellence in orthopedic care. Thank you for all of your work at AHI and AHIRF!
