Clinical Research Fellowship

American Hip Institute Research Foundation (AHIRF) invites highly motivated M4 and research-year candidates to apply for a stipend-funded 1-2 year Clinical Research Fellowship. This fellowship offers invaluable training in orthopedic clinical research, working closely with a dedicated team of interns, surgical fellows, and attending mentors focused on sports medicine, hip preservation, and hip reconstruction.

Program Highlights

  • Duration: 1–2 years
  • Collaborative research environment with 8–10 team members
  • Focus on minimally invasive techniques for labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), subspine and ischiofemoral impingement, dysplasia, microinstability, peri-acetabular osteotomy, Birmingham hip resurfacing, and hip arthroplasty including Mako Smart-Robotic assisted surgery
  • Weekly research meetings, journal clubs, symposiums, and participation in national and international professional society conferences
  • Training in clinical research skills such as study design, IRB compliance, informed consent, data collection and analysis, statistics, manuscript preparation, and scientific presentations
  • Minimum of 10–15 publications, abstracts, posters, or book chapters expected annually
  • Unlimited opportunities to observe orthopedic clinics and operating rooms
  • Monthly cadaver lab sessions with surgical fellows
  • Mentorship under Dr. Benjamin Domb, Dr. Mark Schinsky, Dr. Etan Sugarman, Dr. Benjamin Kuhns and Dr. Megan Flynn
