Background:
Gluteus medius repair combined with hip arthroscopy for labral tears is increasingly performed, but long-term outcomes remain unclear.
Methods:
16 patients with partial or full-thickness gluteus medius tears underwent endoscopic repair with concurrent labral treatment and were followed for ≥5 years.
Key Findings:
Significant improvements occurred in all PROs with high satisfaction (mean 8.4/10) and no repair failures or complications. One patient (7.1%) required conversion to THA.
Conclusions:
Combined endoscopic gluteus medius repair and hip arthroscopy provide durable symptom relief and functional improvement at 5 years.
What Does This Mean for Providers?
Providers treating lateral hip pain with coexisting labral pathology should consider combined endoscopic gluteus medius repair and arthroscopy as a durable, safe treatment option with high patient satisfaction.
