Purpose:
Evaluate outcomes of combined arthroscopic FAI surgery and endoscopic pubic symphysectomy in patients with FAI and osteitis pubis.
Methods:
Retrospective multicenter case series of 7 athletic adults, mean 2.9-year follow-up; assessed pain, function, satisfaction, and complications.
Key Findings:
- Significant improvement in pain (VAS) and hip function (NAHS).
- High patient satisfaction (mean 8.3/10).
- Low complication rates; transient scrotal swelling in two cases, one requiring arthrodesis.
What Does This Mean for Providers?
- Combined minimally invasive approach is safe and effective for concurrent FAI and osteitis pubis.
- Endoscopic pubic symphysectomy can be confidently added to arthroscopic FAI surgery in athletic populations.
- May reduce recovery time and enhance symptom resolution for complex cases.
