Background
Labral tears are a frequent source of hip pain in patients with femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS). Arthroscopic labral repair aims to restore joint function and reduce symptoms.
Methods
This prospective study evaluated patient-reported outcomes following arthroscopic labral repair using knotless suture anchor technology, with a minimum 2-year follow-up assessing functional improvements and pain reduction.
Key Findings
Significant improvements were observed in modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS), Nonarthritic Hip Score (NAHS), and Hip Outcome Score–Sports Specific Subscale (HOS-SSS). Patients reported decreased pain and increased satisfaction with hip function.
Conclusions
Knotless suture anchor technology is a safe and effective tool for arthroscopic labral repair in FAIS, resulting in substantial functional and pain improvements.
What Does This Mean for Providers?
Providers can consider knotless suture anchor technology as a reliable option for labral repair, offering comparable or improved outcomes with potential advantages in surgical efficiency and reduced knot-related complications. Familiarity with this technique can enhance operative planning and patient counseling.
